Welcome
Hello and welcome to the website of Dr Donagh Ward, a fully qualified, accredited counselling psychotherapist and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) practitioner. The purpose of this site is to allow you to learn about counselling and psychotherapy, the services I offer and how to book sessions.
I offer online or in-person psychotherapy services (in TráBeo, Tramore, Co. Waterford) to individuals (adults and teens (13+)) who perhaps feel that talk therapy would be of benefit to them. I meet with people who may have encountered distressing or stressful experiences or situations which they'd like to talk about in a confidential online setting. There are many different reasons why someone might engage in therapy. These might include present circumstances such as bullying, grief, sexuality issues, workplace difficulties, self-esteem problems, dysfunctional relationships or major life transitions. Somebody else might talk to a therapist to discuss and explore past issues like childhood and family experiences.
Others may seek help in dealing with specific psychological or behavioural characteristics which they'd like to do something about, such as addictions to alcohol or drugs, compulsive thoughts or difficulties relating to people and some seek therapy to help them explore uneasy sentiments that their lives are not quite right, or to cope with overwhelming feelings of anxiety or depression.
More come to therapy as part of their effort to create or discover meaning in their lives. Many people are attracted to counselling as an opportunity to embark upon personal development in a safe and supportive environment: it isn't necessary to have an 'issue' or a 'problem' to find counselling and psychotherapy useful.
If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, you can book a session here.
My style of therapy combines traditional talk therapy with Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). I abide by the code of ethics as laid out by the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) and all counselling is confidential within the law.
